Dutch pilot: residential and office buildings are being prepared to test new technologies
The Dutch pilot will be installed in both residential and commercial (office) buildings in Strijp-S, in Eindhoven.
The Dutch pilot is led by VolkerWessels iCity, in partnership with Hyrde, VolkerWessels Telecom, Recognize, TNO, VU Amsterdam.
The pilot partners VolkerWessels iCity andTNO are preparing in cooperation with Bouwinvest (building owner of for rent houses) the customer market research for the residential building. Potential tenants will be interviewed and a survey will be sent to receive feedback on the developed propositions (use cases).
The building that will test the new technologies is still under construction. Nevertheless, the Smart City infrastructure is being prepared and provisions are made. In the end consumers will have the opportunity to test a Smart Home System that will allow them to manage smart appliances.
Concerning the office building, the hardware is being installed on the first demo floor (one of the four floors that will be part of the pilot). The software is under development, and the first demo already took place. The stakeholders’ meetings are also being held.
In November, pilot partner Hyrde visited HESI Facility, a TNO location where real life demonstration is facilitated. At HESI, there are over 200 Energy management systems are represented to demonstrated interaction between systems, households’ appliances and other intelligent infrastructures. The facility will be used by the Dutch partner to test the InterConnect infrastructure before applying it to the residential building.
