InterConnect’s technology and solutions were recently under the spotlight in Italy. At the Energy Efficiency Report event held at Politecnico di Milano in June – POLIMI, and organised by the Energy&Strategy Group, the Italian pilot leader, Planet Smart City, gave an insight into testing ontologies and interoperability features in real-life environments and overcoming technological stack integration barriers.
The focus of the event was energy efficiency. POLIMI – one of the partners of InterConnect – presented the main results of the 2023 edition of the Energy Efficiency Report. “The Report gives a comprehensive overview of the market in Italy, while also analysing the regulatory framework and the energy efficiency technologies, even including innovative smart technologies for energy monitoring and energy management”, states Lucrezia Sgambaro, a researcher at POLIMI. More than 350 people were present at the event.
Planet Smart City offered its contribution to the closing and remarks session. In his presentation, Stefano Fava reinforced that, “although interoperability and standards are of the essence, in order to scale up and widen the effectiveness of digital solution for energy efficiency, a second driver is the engagement and retainment of end users”. “In addition to the community development activities promoted by Planet Smart City’s community development unit worldwide, digital strategies, tools, such as the single touch point Planet App, and the capabilities of applying gamified approaches to solicit and engage the end users, are effective and an essential means to reach the goal of making the energy digital transition come true’, added Stefano Fava.
During the event, an analysis of the most recent regulatory provisions on energy efficiency was also shared, considering policies that did not limit themselves to Italy but delved into a more European dimension, too. “An analysis of the energy efficiency regulatory framework, as well as its expected impact on the Italian energy efficiency market, was presented”, says Lucrezia Sgambaro.
