Use cases for smart building and grids in the InterConnect project

“Services and use cases for smart buildings and grids” was the name of the last workshop that has been organised with the scope of T1.1. - “Human-centric services and business model definition” - of the project.

The workshop, that gathered more than 60 people in the last days of May (27th, 28th and 29th), was organised by Yncrea, POLIMI, Whirlpool and EEBUS.

After defining in April services ideas – energy and non-energy – to be developed in each of the seven InterConnect pilots, partners were now able to work on the clusterization of their service concepts, the business models they have developed to those services and the high-level use cases (HLUC). The goal of this factory was to ensure a transition to Task 1.2. – “Grid-centric services, business use cases definition” -, by mapping use cases and large-scale pilots.

The project has now left behind the design thinking methodology applied during the ecosystem context, personas, needs, ideas, services concepts, epics, and user stories definition, and is now on a phase of translating those achievements into high-level use cases to be developed in the seven pilots of the project.

The clusterization of the service concepts and high-level use cases done by each pilot before the workshop, and presented during Factory 2, will now allow the project to harmonize the high-level use cases. The business models and the technical use cases, that have emerged from the HLUC, will be developed in Tasks 1.3. “Pilots service characterization and overall categorization” and 1.4. “System use cases writing of selected services”.

Until the end of June deliverable 1.1., containing an understanding of user needs and values on pilots, a map of the personas and the needs, a description of the services, business models, super epics, epics, user stories and, finally, the high-level use cases of every pilot in the project, will be submitted.
