InterConnect Webinar Series #4 Customer data management crucial to distribution system operators
InterConnect is organising a Webinar series on Open Innovation and Personal Data Protection in the ICT and energy fields.
The fourth webinar will be on the topic of Personal Data Protection. Tzeni Varfi, European Distribution System Operators (E.DSO), and Pedro González González, Asociación de Empresas de Energía Eléctrica (aelēc), will be speaking under the subject “Customer data management crucial to distribution system operators” on May 12 at 2pm (CEST).
About the webinar
The webinar will discuss customers’ energy data management facilitation and interoperability from DSOs’ perspective at the European level, with concrete examples from Spain. DSOs request new services in the emerging decentralized energy system. They are crucial actors in their role as neutral market facilitators, especially in area of data management. Energy data exchange is the key to a more customer-centric energy system, while DSOs support interoperability to strengthen the European Single Market and recommend a one system approach for the benefit of customers.
Speakers
Tzeni Varfi – European Distribution System Operators (E.DSO)
Short bio: Tzeni Varfi is a Senior Legal Counsel and holds the position Policy and Legal Director at the European Distribution System Operators (E.DSO) in Brussels. During her 11 years of professional career, Tzeni has built substantial experience in European Data Protection Law, IT/ IP law and compliance policies at EU level.
Presentation description: Data management is crucial to operate the distribution system flexibly while responding to customer needs and managing critical situations appropriately. DSOs have a key role in complementing data acts at the European level such as in the data exchange process between the DSOs and third parties for the benefit of customers. Data exchange between system operators and customers remains important to adopt a more customer-centric approach, expecting DSOs to seek high engagement in European work streams regarding data access and interoperability.
Pedro González González, Asociación de Empresas de Energía Eléctrica, (aelēc)
Short bio: Pedro González is an economist and works as Director of Regulation in the Association of Electric Energy Companies, aelēc, specializing in the analysis of the measures adopted in the continuous development of electricity regulation. In addition, he represents the Association in various bodies and associations such as the CNMC Electricity Advisory Council, eurelectric, CEOE or the OMIE Market Agents Committee.
Presentation description: The Spanish DSOs are collaborating with the aim of developing a new platform for the exchange of real-time information with Significant Grid Users. This initiative allows for system costs savings by providing a unique solution that also contributes to pave the way for the future development of flexible markets. SIORD is an initiative of all Spanish DSOs to share information through a common platform to unify, simplify and minimize the cost of exchanging information coming from increased network digitization and close monitoring of the grid electrical variables.
